When quadratic forms enable to derive information about ideals
Abstract (EN):
« In 1847, Gabriel Lamé published an incorrect proof for the Theorem of Fermat-Wiles. It has not a lot to do with the heart of this presentation, where quadratic forms will play a leading role. The author invites you first to rediscover the introduction of the ideal class group, difficult to control but having lot of arithmetic information, then to relive the experiments he made thanks to the link (in the quadratic case) between this group and the quadratic forms, regarding a problem of specialization of ideals in integral values. »
Quand les formes quadratiques permettent l’étude d’idéaux

« En 1847, Gabriel Lamé publie une démonstration erronée du théorème de Fermat-Wiles. Ceci n’a pas grand rapport avec le cœur de cet exposé, où les formes quadratiques joueront un rôle de premier plan. L’auteur vous invite d’abord à venir redécouvrir l’introduction du groupe de classes, objet difficilement contrôlable et regorgeant d’informations arithmétiques, puis à revivre les expérimentations qu’il a pu faire grâce au lien (dans le cas quadratique) entre ce groupe et les formes quadratiques, concernant un problème de spécialisation d’idéaux en des valeurs entières. »
